Seven decades in print
Our Story
The founders prayed over every idea, every decision, and every new publication — trusting God to multiply small beginnings.
How the Vision Began
Every movement begins with a burden.
For Masihi Sahitya Sanstha, the burden was simple yet profound:
“How will the Church grow if God’s people do not have access to sound, accessible Christian literature in their own languages?”
A Seed Planted in Prayer
In the mid-20th century, a small group of pastors, evangelists, and Christian educators saw an issue affecting churches across North India. Sermons were preached faithfully, but believers lacked material they could take home — books that explained the Scriptures, devotional guides that nurtured spiritual life, and Bible study aids that helped new believers grow.
This concern became a matter of prayer.
Out of those conversations and late-night prayer meetings, a strong conviction emerged: “The written Word must go where the preached Word cannot.”
The Birth of a Vision
From that conviction, Masihi Sahitya Sanstha was born — not as a large organization, but as a quiet ministry with a deep purpose:
- To create resources that were biblically faithful
- To make them affordable for every believer
- To write and translate them into Hindi and local Indian languages
- And above all, to strengthen the spiritual foundation of the Church in India
The founders believed that Christian literature should not be limited to academic circles or imported books. It should be woven into every home, every fellowship, every congregation, whether in a city or a village.
A Story Still Being Written
What began as a small response to a great need has matured into a ministry serving believers across India through:
- Books and devotionals
- Bible study materials
- Children’s resources
- Digital platforms like Masihi.in and Masihi.Store
- Training partnerships with local churches and ministries
And yet, the heart of the story remains unchanged. Masihi Sahitya Sanstha exists because the Church must be nurtured with biblical truth — and literature is one of the most powerful ways to do so.
Our Ongoing Calling
The vision that started MSS still guides us today:
“To proclaim Christ through literature that builds up believers, equips the church, and brings the light of the gospel into every home.”
The story is still unfolding — in every book printed, every resource shared, and every believer strengthened in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.
